ABOUT ME

Hi there! I am Golda Regina Uli Purba. Well, most of the people do not know me by my third name, but that’s the one I am using now. I am a 23 years old Cancerian born in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia. And, yes, I love spicy food (in case you wonder)! :D I am a homey kind of girl who enjoy being by myself, but I also love going out with friends! :)

In 2011, I went to study and had lived in Lippo Karawaci (a.k.a Lippo Village) for 4 years. After graduated as a Bachelor of Education in 2015, I went straight to work as a First Grade Teacher in Sentani, Papua, Indonesia. Living far from home since I was in university is one of the things that shape me to become a mature person that I am now.

I am no stranger to the blogging world, because I started one since 2009. But I guess I was not mature enough to stick with just one blog. That is why this new one exist to end the immaturity that I had in the previous blog. I still want to keep those memories in the old one though.

After moving to Papua, God revealed to me that serving is not just talking about me standing in front of the classroom and teaching my kids every day. I encountered many more children outside the school who are less educated. Some of them even never taste what a formal school like. They grew up having that gut to be so harsh to others especially in talking, no exception to their parents. Seeing that, my heart started to be moved by this desire to share with and help as many children as I could. But I know for sure that I can’t take care of everything by myself. There’s where the Principal in the school I teach at, Sostenis, come into the picture. He, who was actually my senior at university, is the only person I could share the conviction with. My head alone wouldn’t be able to figure out how to take things into action. But together we eventually managed to gather the kids in the neighborhood. The kids didn’t know us before, and we too were stranger for them. And that’s why we called it Rumah Kita; A place where every stranger becomes a family member.
Along the way, I found out how I often got inspired by the people around me. I really hope that this story and so many more to come, will be that spark that compels you to go out and open your eyes to see how wonderful the people around you actually are. And more than anything, I want to share the amazement of the Creator who has placed and designed just the right people and place in every lives. I am very open for any questions about anything except sex and violent related. If you are curious and want to know more about Rumah Kita, feel free to e-mail me to rumahkitadoyo@gmail.com and visit the website here. You can even be a part of Rumah Kita too. Please do not hesitate to talk to me about what you can do there :)

Love,
